A Sandbox Wedding for Narisa and Kyle

When I met Narisa and Kyle, I knew they were not going to have a typical wedding. When I say these two are music lovers I mean they are music LOVERS! For their reception, they wanted many different genres from hip-hop, r&b, and many kinds of EDM. I was happy to provide the couple with a mix of some of the popular songs from each genre. The couple enjoyed the mix I sent them and decided to book me for their wedding! I was so excited to be part of their wedding.

The couple had their ceremony at Sheraton on Harbor drive. Their ceremony site overlooked the docks, and it was a beautiful day out. The ceremony site provided a challenge for the ceremony sound, but I was able to hide a speaker near the front of their ceremony so that Narisa and Kyle's guests would be able to hear everything and so the speaker would not be in any of the couple's wedding photos.

Kayla Bishar (@kayla.bishar) coordinated the ceremony and reception. She and her team were terrific to work with. Nothing makes me happier than when couples hire an experienced coordinator/planner. It makes my job so much easier and makes the day so much smoother for everyone involved.

Narisa and Kyle's' close friend Talia officiated the ceremony. Video of the service was shot by Ryan of @ryanfilms_sd. He was super professional and was very skilled! Kyle and the bridal party walked down the aisle to a piano cover of 'Heaven' by DJ Sammy. Narisa walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of 'Good for Me' by Above and Beyond.

The couple's vows were touching, and there was not a dry eye around. When they were pronounced husband and wife, they walked to 'First Time' by Seven Lions just as the chorus began.

The reception took place at The Sandbox in downtown San Diego. The first thing guests noticed was the giant disco ball that Narisa, Kyle, and some of their bridal party hung that morning. Guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers while listening to piano covers of some of the top pop songs of all time.

The couple arrived at the reception after taking pictures with Lori and Matt of Pretty Branch Photo (@prettybranchphoto). They were also fantastic to work with! The couple walked into 'Swago' by Detlef and went straight into their first dance. Narisa and Kyle had a specially choreographed dance to 'Dancing in the Moonlight' by Toploader which culminated with indoor sparklers!

Dinner was served shortly after and was provided by Bekkers Catering (@bekkerscatering). The spread was excellent and included salmon, an assortment of veggies, and mashed potatoes.

Parent dances and the garter and bouquet toss took place after the couple took pictures with their guests at their DIY photo booth. Kyle danced with his mother Angie to 'A Song for Mama' by Boyz to Men. Narisa danced with her mother Pat to 'Because You Loved Me' by Celine Dion. The bouquet toss song was 'Single Ladies' by Beyonce and the garter/football toss song was Another 'One Bites The Dust' by Queen. The formalities concluded with a cake cutting to 'Love on Top' by Beyonce and a large group photo.

After all the formal dances the dance opened with much anticipation! A typical wedding will have one and a half to two hours of open dancing, but this wasn't an average wedding! We had over four hours of open dancing, and the dance floor was packed all night! Songs from 'Hot in Herre' by Nelly to 'Stop It' by FISHER were played.

My favorite moment of the night was when Brian, a close friend and old roommate of Narisa and Kyle DJed the last hour of the night. Brian told me he started DJing when he lived with Narissa and Kyle. Brian killed it, and it brought a massive smile to my face and all the other guests. The night ended shortly after midnight with many hugs for the newlyweds.

This wedding was one of my favorites of all time, and I was thankful when I received a five-star review from Narisa and Kyle a few days after the wedding.

Thank you Narisa and Kyle for being so enjoyable and fun! It was an absolute pleasure to DJ your wedding!
